I created this animation while being stuck in my room. Enjoy.
Special thanks to my friend DISKQ for the original music xoxo
Typin Textiles is an immersive hands-on experience. The space is inviting and intimate, welcoming individuals to sit down on the hand-quilted cushion seat and play with the artwork while being embraced by colorful threads. Pressing the fabric patterns on the keyboard directly corresponds to the patterns that appear on the computer screen. The screen continues to be filled with patterns created by different users throughout the day.
This project was inspired by my mother, who studied fashion merchandising in Seoul. The knowledge of textiles learned from my umma, combined with my enthusiasm for creative coding and media arts = this virtual-tactile project came into creation.
This piece was part of a group art exhibition in Los Angeles.
Blooop is a combination of "blob" and "loop" as the player loops into three different scenes with a blob. This game was created using Unity and Cinema 4D - playable on Steam VR with HTC Vive.
You are invited to a fancy dinner with blob. It stares at you with its bulging eyes at the other end of the banquet table. You start to throw food at it, feeding the strange hungry creature. The blob gets bigger and bigger after every meal it consumes... and eventually consumes YOU. Now you are inside the stomach, surrounded by floating foods. You are trapped there and try to find a way out. Oh hey, what do you know? There is a magic portal! You enter the portal and it drops you into an alternate universe... Possibly a blob paradise afterlife?

Shift Shapes: If you move your mouse to a specific spot, you *may* notice the shapes form a name.
Dear Jane: I was tired of seeing emails coming in with the same format, so I collected screenshots of the opening lines of 129 of my most recent emails. With every click of the mouse, you, too, can feel the overwhelming sensation of all the emails received within a short period of time.
Manic Mind: Just creating a digital web version of my doodles. Based on real life drawings that depict some of my most private feelings. A visual representation of my racing thoughts. Each line, shape, and color is a deliberate choice based on specific things that come up in my head. The original drawing was created with colored pencils, pastels, and crayons.
Banana Game: A game about consent using Processing. It was the first thing I ever coded from scratch. Special thanks to Casey Reas.
I like to draw. I bring my sketchbook wherever I go and draw what I see.
I was a teaching artist at UCLA Lab School, an innovative laboratory school for elementary students. I did a digital portrait exercise with young students (ages 5-6) using the program PIXIE, a creative software for kids. Each student had a mirror next to them to refer to as they drew on the computer.
With this project, I showed them how to observe and think about the details of their face. The goal was for them to really slow down and take the time to look at themselves through an artist lens and express what they see through digital drawing. For example, instead of drawing circle for eyes and triangles for nose, I encouraged students to really reflect on the lines and shapes that their face forms as well as consider the color of their skin, eyes, hair, and lips.
I also teach at a private art studio, giving 1:1 art lessons to students of all ages (1st-11th grade).
Here is some of their work, in order from youngest to oldest:
